McCarthy, Tom

A third space, paintings of Daniel Bodner 1993-2011

“The atmosphere of some decades-old photograph is captured with a painterly hand, with drips here and there. The edges seem weathered by time, and while many works have the feel of black and white photos, Bodner has also worked with red, implying the developing of photos in a darkroom. What is impressive is the profound intimacy and vulnerability of the portraits. The fragility of human existence is depicted without comment.”
